Zones Scheduled; Did Not Run

Matt O.
Updated at 2019-06-14 14:30:18 UTC

Good Day,

Really enjoying the product and app so far.

Another question: I noticed my Smart Water schedule includes a couple zones that did not end up running at the scheduled time (see attached screenshot). Is this due to the dynamic changes in the algorithm? The home page did show, however, that these zones ran but they actually did not.

Thanks.

Keeps watering after heavy rains!

The smart schedule has now watered twice after heavy rains this spring/summer. Any thoughts on what might be going on?

Hi, I installed a sprite a couple of months ago and I'm a big fan. Any plans to develop a fertilizer/insecticide injector or can make recommendations for one?

Watering zones twice

My smart schedule seems to be working very well and is adapting to weather, etc.  However on days where it waters it seems to be doing everything twice.  For example many days it runs through all my zones and then immediately runs through them all again, each zone the same amount of time as the first time through.  Is this a glitch?  Seems like 9-14 minutes two times over the course of a few hours is a lot to me.

One Lawn, 2 Zones

Updated at 2019-06-11 16:07:07 UTC

I have a lawn that is irrigated by 2 zones. How does Sprite determine that these zones are watering the same lawn? It wasn’t clear when setting up zones to inform that the zones are related to the same lawn.

Or, does it not matter, since the parameters are the same (lawn species, soil type, slope, area/2, etc.)?

Kickstarters for Pixie, the Smart Hose Faucet Timer

Netro Inc
Updated at 2019-06-05 01:59:12 UTC

To the Netro community:

We are very excited to introduce our new product, Pixie, the WiFi-connected Hose Faucet Timer. We have spent almost a year designing and developing the smart timer and now it is ready to meet the users.

We believe Pixie is a great choice if you have water systems running through hose faucet. It is as smart as Sprite and can pair with Whisperer. It is solar powered and has a removable battery for quick charge. If you like the features in the Netro app, it has all the access to them.

For more information about Pixie, please email to info@netrohome.com or simply leave a message/comment below and we will send you a promotion code for the first 50 buyers.

Thanks,

Manually skip next watering

How can I manually skip the next scheduled watering?  I am watching it pour outside and the next scheduled watering is at 6 pm this evening.

Hot weather algorithm

Joshua Berk
Updated at 2019-05-17 16:15:51 UTC

I live in Arizona and it's not really hot yet but it's starting to get warmer and I noticed my rye grass is starting to die off and everybody else's is very green.  I think it's because netro isn't watering as often as it should be when it gets warmer. I'm aware I can set a manual schedule but that kind of defeats the purpose of why I bought Netro. So what I'm saying is I think an algorithm needs to be adjusted so hot dry climates get a little more watering for winter grass that's still in season before the Bermuda comes in.

Suggestion: Sunrise smart watering

I think Rachio adjusts the watering schedule with sunrise to have all zones completed as the sun is coming up. Is this something you intend to add? I think this will come in handy with the heat of summer.

Smart Watering Basic with a schedule watering adjustment

Barry Perfect
Updated at 2019-04-13 17:00:37 UTC

If I have a zone set to Smart Watering - Basic with a schedule to come on for 30 minutes, will the smart watering adjust the duration of the watering based on the weather (say 10 minutes when it’s cool, the full 30 minutes when it is hot), or just turn it off/on based on the 5mm expected rain threshold?

windy conditions

The setting for windy conditions is great.

However the zones that includes drip irrigation doesn’t get impacted by winds (since they’re often under dirt/mulch etc) usually rotors and nozzles would be impacted . Is there a way not to include in ground drip irrigation on windy conditions?

Update frequency of watering schedule

How often is the smart watering schedule updated? This morning it was raining quite a bit, but so far my watering schedule indicates a watering session for tomorrow. Not only does this waste water, but it violates one of my restrictions, namely, no watering the day after a rain.

Notice To Users of Weather Underground

Netro Inc
Updated at 2019-03-19 04:52:48 UTC

Notice of obsoleting Weather Underground

Netro has changed the weather source Weather Underground to Dark Sky from the server side for users of Weather Underground. The reason is Weather Underground stopped its API service without any notice. The whole community is looking for solutions. So we have internally disabled the Weather Underground option and used the data from Dark Sky.

We will support AccuWeather and openWeatherMap in the next release of the app. We expect to launch it early next month.

We are sorry about the inconvenience. Please contact us if you have any questions.

Regards,

Netro

Overriding smart waterinh

I own a very small lot and would be interested only in setting up my own programs. How can I override the system's smart watering schedule? I installed a new Netro Sprite today and right off the bat it shows a lot of watering on the first day. Thank you.

Whisperer records only up to 10% even in pouring rain

Have two Whiperer sensors in container pots setting up for bare root treesin large fabric bag containers. Sensors have detected a moisture level of only up to 16%. This morning after and during a one inch rain the soil moisture is only reading 3% and 6%. Clearly something is wrong.

Skipping skipped?

Live in Hawaii and yesterday we had flood level rains and to my disappointment Netro watered this morning even though I have it set to skip if it rained the previous day. Anyone have this happen?

Customization->set rain/temperature/wind threshold to skip watering

Netro Support
Updated at 2018-10-13 06:19:08 UTC

Customization->set rain/temperature/wind threshold to skip watering

Netro automatically creates dynamic watering schedules according to local weather, so if you turn on the smart zone feature for your zone, season adjustment will be made with smart watering schedules according to weather.

There are different types of weather restrictions: rain, temperature and wind.

By default, If you turn on the smart zone feature, Netro will skip the schedules (including manual schedules from user programs) when there is a chance of significant rain(>0.2inch).

The default threshold to skip watering when temperature is too low is 0 Celsius degree (32 Fahrenheit) for all the Netro controllers.

You can now customize rain, temperature and wind threshold through Settings->Preferences.

New seeding

Douglas Ely
Updated at 2018-10-09 23:09:48 UTC
Here in ocean city NJ, when we seed for new grass we need the water to come on twice daily to start germination. When I set my Netro to “new plant” and the soil type to “sandy clay” which is the top layer, the controller had only been watering every 2.21 days. The soil is dust dry. I don’t want to have to make gross adjustments. That is why I bought Netro. What’s wrong?
