No moisture reading

I have 5 Whisperer sensors and 1 of them is no longer measuring moisture.  Temp and Lux are being measured but consistently zero on moisture.  Placed next to another functioning sensor that is reading moisture and still nothing.

Suggestions?

I've had the whisper sensor for about a year and it's worked great the entire time. I decided to add 2 more sensors for more zones and both of them are reporting absurd numbers more often than not. I have tried resetting them, moving them, nothing is working. Really not happy right now. Attached is a screenshot of a typical day's readings.

Smart Watering - Water in the Morning

Netro Support
Updated at 2022-04-24 01:45:07 UTC

Watering correctly saves time, money, and plants. The heat of summer is coming, and along with it, water restrictions in many municipalities. Summer water restrictions can force us to re-evaluate our watering practices. In many cases we may find that our watering practices are wasteful and inefficient.

Deep, infrequent watering is recommended. In most cases, an inch of water per week (rain plus irrigation) should be sufficient. Applying that inch of water in one deep watering will encourage deeper rooting, which leads to stronger, healthier plants. Watering once a week also fits well into most municipal water restrictions. Shallow, frequent watering, on the other hand, will lead to shallow root systems and high water loss through evaporation. With shallow watering, such as light frequent sprinkling, you actually end up wasting quite a bit of water and still don’t meet the needs of your plants.

The best time of day to water a garden is in the morning, since that gives the plants time to dry off before nightfall. It's cooler and winds tend to be calmer so water can soak into the soil and be absorbed by the grass roots before it can evaporate.Leaving water on plants overnight can lead to mold. Watering your garden at the right time and using the right method will keep your plants healthy.

There may be need to evaluate the device used for watering. While a lawn sprinkler may be a good method for the lawn, it may not be the best way to water a vegetable garden. Pick a watering device that matches the needs of your garden and the time you have available to water. Once a device is selected, know the correct way to use that device, in order to water efficiently.

When faced with summer watering restrictions, save yourself time and money by carefully selecting the time and watering device which best suit your garden’s needs. With Netro's smart watering, home gardeners may not fear that with restrictions in place they won't be able to properly water their gardens. Netro specializes in Evapotranspiration Reduction (ETR) and automatically make seasonal watering adjustments. Even in the hottest summer, Netro takes good care of your garden.

If you must water in the evening, try between 4 and 6 p.m. which should give the grass blades time to dry before nightfall. The later you water, the greater chance of disease becoming prevalent in your lawn. It's worth noting, though, that you don't necessarily have to water your lawn. Lawns are resilient. Established and properly cared-for lawns can survive weeks without water by going dormant (when the lawn turns brown), then recover once the rain returns.

Zone Size Setting With Overlapping Sprinklers

Updated at 2022-04-13 14:39:27 UTC

Hi,

How do I set zone size for lawn areas sprinklers that overlap one and other?  For example, I have 6 zones, and in the front Zone 1 and Zone 2 overlap the areas they water in some cases.  So, in my case if the area covered by both zones is a total of 1000 feet, do I set each zone for 500 feet or each zone for 1000 feet.  Thanks.

Flow rate

Sander Z
Updated at 2022-03-14 12:34:05 UTC
I got 2 zones of 2 Rainbird 5004plus Rotors irrigating the same 90m2 as water flow was not enough to have the 4 rotor heads working at the same time. As mi experience the automatic programs do not successfully work, I would like to try a more controlled approach in specifying the flow rate in the Smart program. But, what value do I have to put there for each of the 2 zones? I saw on rain birds webpage, the 5004 nozzle 1.5 and 4psi, have a flow rate of 7-8mm/h…but the app does not let me select below the 10mm unfortunately. Can you pleas say what number I have to fill-out for those 2 5004 rotor heads?

Netro is watering at 25F because it is misinterpreted weather

I had to cancel watering because it’s 25F this morning. It’s because the weather is misinterpreted. The forecast today is 58/34, but that means it will be 34 for tonight’s low. Last night’s low was 25 and the Netro should look at that number for watering this morning.

Yellow Triangle on every other run

arubalsky
Updated at 2021-12-01 13:44:22 UTC

I have 2 Pixies and both are on smart schedule. However, one has been acting up and showing a yellow triangle without any explanation for every other run.

Example:

Pixie 1 - Nov 24 - Good run

Pixie 2 - Nov 24 - Good run

Pixie 1 - Nov 26 - BAD run - yellow triangle

Pixie 2 - Nov 26 - Good run

Pixie 1 - Nov 28 - Good run

Pixie 2 - Nov 28 - Good run

Pixie 1 - Nov 30 - BAD run - yellow triangle

Pixie 2 - Nov 30 - Good run

Why would this happen????  I have cameras and PIXIE 1 DID NOT RUN on 26th and 28th.

Thanks.

Hi. I have attached pictures of my screen that show that the app is repeating waterings on the same day, etc.  This doesn’t seem correct (they are drip irrigation zones)?

Did I set it up incorrectly?

Thanks

Issue with Smart Watering

Davide
Updated at 2021-10-04 19:13:44 UTC

Hi Community!

I've got 4 zones linked to same program all with Smart Watering activated. I noticed that on the schedule proposed there's one zone that's watered several times per day while others not. Settings are the same for all zones so I dunno what's wrong. Is there a way to set the Smart Watering of that zone like the others?

Thanks a lot in advance for your help!

Doubts about installation and required devices

Juan Pascual
Updated at 2021-09-22 17:57:24 UTC
I would like to know how to manage the following garden.
I currently have 5 areas of lawn and other plants, with 3 Hunter PGP sprinklers for each area. Of these 5 zones, there are two with a lot of shade, and the rest are sunny (central Spain).
On the other hand, I have another zone with 6 diffusers, and a last one with a drip system for the Leylandy hedge.
I am interested in acquiring a Spark programmer but... how many Whisperer would I need?

How does Spark differentiate between the different zones and how does it combine the amount of humidity needed? The type of grass I have is made up of Raygrass, Fescue, Poa, and Agrostis. I could send you a plan of my system for your advice.

the outer lines indicate the individual irrigation fields.
AREAS A1 - A2 -A3 - A4 -B1 and B4 are the shadiest areas.
These areas are shadier due to the height of the hedge.

For orientation, a straight line between points 13 and 8 marks the North-South line, where 13 is South and 8 is North.
Neither the diffuser area nor the drip line of the hedge is represented here.
The water inlet is located in the legend E1, between sprinklers 12 and 13.

Thank you very much.

Lots of questions!

Hi Netro Community, I just bought a house with a huge yard and the Netro system. Spent a lot of time identifying zones and getting the watering right by nozzle type, square footage, etc. Some areas still seem too dry and others’ too wet. So…

How can I be sure I have selected the right soil type?

How can I verify I have the right grade of slope selected by zone?

Other ways I can help Netro identify dry spots?

Smart Controller Not Very Smart

Hi,

I’m not sure that I can trust this Spark Controller anymore.  Woke up to notifications of zones being watered when controller is programmed to water on MWF.  Moisture levels in all zones was okay on all zones and smart level is only set to basic.  According to the notifications the controller was watering on 9/8/21 instead of 9/7/21.  It’s like the calendar on Netro’s server is set to the wrong date.  Very disappointing, and I don’t know if I can trust the controller going forward. the controlle
