What about blowout?

New system owner. When having fall blowout performed, I found I needed to be present to run each zone. I didn’t find a way to provide access to the technician. Other systems on the market provide this function.

Why doesn’t this one?

Mode between and eco and normal

Sangjin Lee
Updated at 2019-10-17 03:41:11 UTC

I am exploring different smart watering modes. The normal mode waters the lawn too long for me but the eco mode too little. It appears that the eco mode is exactly the same as normal but the watering time is half of normal.

In my case, I would like to set up a smart mode that waters 75% of the normal. How can I configure the smart mode to do that?

Put Sprite in "paused" mode in winter

Put Sprite in "paused" mode in winter

To put Sprite in "paused" mode in winter, you will have winterize your system. First you will have to blow out the sprinkler. You can look at this video to find some useful information.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=s3YRbJYmvgA&t=99s

This video mentioned that you will have to turn on the sprinkler, so you can use the instant manual run feature in the home page to manually start watering for each zone to make sure all the water is out of system.

Then you should put Sprite in "paused" mode just in case some one (for example the kids) accidentally starts a manually run from the app. To put Sprite in "paused" mode, you can go to Settings->Controller->Enabled.

Weird watering plan

Manuel Roca
Updated at 2019-10-12 11:34:00 UTC
I don’t understand why smart watering is planning to water my 6 zone area in different ways if they have all the same type of soil, sprinkle head, size, and species.

That give me not much confidence on the intelligence of the system.

Any ideas? Do I have to reset all the system?

Scheduling ( Two Smart watering levels; Smart disabled)

Netro Support
Updated at 2019-10-07 02:55:21 UTC

There are 2 different levels of Netro’s smart watering you can choose(Go to Settings->Zones->Smart Zone)

 1. Smart watering: Level advanced

This is the default setting of smart watering. In this level, your zones will be watered automatically by Netro with smart schedules.

Netro will do everything for you, you do not need to set up the program/schedule.

Netro will skip smart watering and programs when there is large amount of rain(>0.2inch/ 5.08 mm) or watering regulations and manual restrictions.

You can inspect the Smart schedules in the calendar view. They are with the blue water-drop icons.

2.Smart watering: Level basic

In this level, no smart schedule will be generated. You will need to add programs manually (go to Settings->Programs to add programs) and Netro will skip programs when there is large amount of rain(>0.2inch/ 5.08 mm) or watering regulations.

If you do not want smart zone schedule to override your own programmed schedule, you can set up the Smart Zone level from Advanced to Basic, which only skip rainning days for your programmed schedule.

Please note when smart zone is enabled, your local regulations will automatic override your own program if there is any conflict. So when you set up your own program watering time, please do not conflict with your local Regulations if there is any. To check up regulations, please go to Settings->Regulations.

3.Smart-zone feature disabled

If you want to create your own programs and turn off smart zone feature and rain delay feature, go to Settings->Zones->Smart Zone and toggle the enable button. When the smart zone is disabled, the system will strictly follow the user program to water the zones. There is no intelligence here. Netro will not skip your schedules when there is rain. Regulation feature will not be in effect as well.

Installation Direct to pump

Tim Foster
Updated at 2019-10-03 11:23:32 UTC

OK. I have my plumber installing this. Unfortunately, this is México and so beyond the basics, most plumbers are struggling about in the dark. We've figured most of it out, but we're a bit in the dark on a couple of bits.

I have the following:

A ground source well with a Franklin Electric submersible pump as my water source. This pumps directly from the ground to the zone controller.

The zone controller is an Antelco EzyValve4 solenoid (https://antelco.com/us/products/valves/automatic/ezyvalve-4). This has a water input and four zone outputs. Each of the four solenoids has two wires and their website shows how to connect 1 of the wires together as the common and then the other four for each controller. This is all good.

The problem is power to the pump. The Netro installation video says "if you have a master valve, connect that to the M slot". I googled a bit and found "A master valve is an automatic valve that is installed at the point where the irrigation system connects to the water supply. (Sometimes this circuit is called a “pump start circuit”. Both types of circuits work identical, and can be used for a pump and/or a master valve.) The controller turns the master valve on and off."

So, does this mean I connect the power from the pump directly to the "M" slot? and would this then turn on the pump when a zone is opened for watering? So, Zone 1 comes on to water the garden, does this also switch the pump on?

From what I understand the pump will be 110v, so do I need a relay unit between the pump wire and the Neatro (24v)?

Can anyone give me a confirmation that this is the right way to configure it please?

Manually watering Zone 2, sprinklers stopped watering while the app still showing watering and counting the time, tried all other zones, none is watering though the app shows they’re. Checked wifi works, power to the controller works. The only thing I noticed is that the light on the controller is off all the time except when unplug and plug it back, the light flicks once and then remained off

Ip address

Kris Y
Updated at 2019-09-25 20:13:08 UTC

You mentioned you would add the ability to display the ip address in the next upgrade. Having dealt with networking issues for many years. I find it best to be able to assign static ip addresses to my home networked devices so I don’t have random dhcp issues causes by laptops or phones reconnecting and trying to take over an IP address that might be in use by a device that is a permanent resident.

Would you add the ability to assign the IP address to the controller? Many people don’t realize the significance of this but I find it important to a healthy home network.

Netro Sprite + Netatmo Rain gauge + Wunderground

Tony D.
Updated at 2019-09-24 21:08:17 UTC

Hello everybody,

I own a Sprite and a Netatmo weather station. By now I have configured the Netro App to use Wunderground as the meteo provider. More specifically I have configured my own Netatmo Weather station as a provider. I have to say that it works pretty good in forecasting weather conditions. I would like to know if somebody else is using this configuration and owns also the rain gauge module. In case, does provide the correct rain amount of rainfall in the Netro app Discover page. It would be nice if the Netro "AI" could use the exact rainfall from the rain gauge provided through wunderground.

Anyone experimenting with this?

Netro has updated max day regulation

Netro Support
Updated at 2019-09-23 03:16:02 UTC

To the Netro Community,

Recently Netro has enabled the max day Restriction in Settings->Regulation for those cities which limit watering to one or two days per week. We are aware that many cities are under mandatory regulation and the penalty for violating the water regulations is large, therefore, we have enabled the max day regulation.

Users can go to Settings->Regulations to check and please feel free to report us if the regulation is not correct.

For some local regulation, we are not quite sure if it is conservation plan or  mandatory regulation. If the regulation is not needed, please write to us support@netrohome.com and we will check and update our regulation database accordingly.

Thanks,
Netro Support

Whisperer seems wrong

Tim Foster
Updated at 2019-09-22 15:02:12 UTC
Topic: General

I only got my system delivered yesterday, so this could be something that I doing wrong, I have one whisperer in the back garden and one in the front. I live in Merida Yucatan and so it's hot all the time. The whisperer in the back is in direct sunlight most of the day yet it's reporting the temperature as 24. The one in the front is shaded by the house yet that is reporting 33. Both seem to be reporting incorrect moisture levels in both the topsoil and subsoil. Yucatán drains through stone to underground water sources so I would expect both topsoil and subsoil to be showing very arid.

Can anyone advise?

Schedule setup

Updated at 2019-09-21 14:51:31 UTC

I’ve setup several schedules and in creating another new one, I run into errors about a schedule conflict.  I’ve disabled the other schedule so it won’t run but even then I get the error.

I would think that the app would be smart enough to not create a schedule conflict with a disabled schedule?

Having a problem since upgrade of the app. Doesn't seem possible unless the main unit updated as well. Valves close within a few minutes of being activated by manual start, or programmed schedule. Have not test with smart watering disabled, but it happens on manual starts, so not sure that is even a variable. The Zone still shows as actively watering in the application. If you submit a stop  action by pressing the red square, then restart, via the sideways triangle, the zone will come back on again. However, it shortly shuts back off, while still showing the zone as being actively watered. This is happening across all four of my zones. Curiously, if you unplug the controller after the valve shuts off, but the app still shows it watering, wait a bit, and then plugit back int-the zone comes backon shortly after reboot.

Tested countless times, hasn't finished a cycle in a month. The zone stops sending the 24v signal causing the pump relay to snap shut and turn off the water supply, or perhaps the zone valve. Either way, appears to be a very odd defect. Do I need a replacement unit?  (BTW, I have all smart fumctioms disabled)

I wasn't able to find a way to read the IP address assigned to the Sprite and/or Whisperer could you consider adding a page in the app where you can read the value?

Thank you,

Tony
